Before I get into what's happening this week in clubland, I wanted to have a second to say adieu to a regular on the local music scene. Farewell to a whirling dervish of push who was Billy Ruane. I always knew I was at a cool show when I saw Billy in the interview at one of the many venues around town.He was slow to recognise in the gang with his trademark disheveled look, his enthusiasm was contagious and you never knew when he was going do an aerial karate kick.

Son of Anthony Marotta, who ownedthe legendary club Tony Mart`s in Somers Point - where Bob Dylan found his band theHawks (later known as The Band), in August 1965 and where rock `n` roll prevailed withthe hottest bands around until the early 1980s when the club closed. It was at the endof the club`s colorful history when parts of the 1983 film Eddie and theCruisers were filmed there.
