Last come the thought of redesigning this news journal that I`m privileged to edit arose. It started with the recognition that a decade had passed since the formatting and purpose had been significantly updated.

It is astonishing how that simple thought - when shared with bright, gifted and supportive persons - has taken off.

On Friday, my friend Ed Pettibone took me to the historic First Church in Albany, N.Y. also known as the North Dutch Church. The building was erected between 1797-1799.

The Dutch Reformed congregation, founded in 1642, claims the oldest pulpit in America - brought from the Netherlands in 1656 for an old set of worship known as the Blockhouse church.

The amazing benefits of modern technology are numerous. I get them with each instant contact with family and friends or when able to work productively from a coffee shop or hotel room.

However, something must be done to cover the tune of too much information.

The amazing benefits of advanced technology are numerous. I receive them with each instant contact with home and friends or when able to work productively from a chocolate shop or hotel room.

However, something must be done to treat the strain of too much information. My next smart phone upgrade will look on who gives me the best filtering options.

One, I`m thankful to love my way round so well. After living and running in several parts of the metropolis and metro area for 18 years, followed by a decade of regular return visits to all kinds of appointments and adventures, I rarely pull out the GPS or that ancient document once known as a map.

Although growing up with few earthly possessions, none was more valued than my baseball glove. In fact, from the first hint of spring until the late fall chill, the well-worn glove was more of an appendage than a possession.

Although growing up with few earthly possessions, none was more precious than my baseball glove. In fact, from the first breath of spring until the recent fall chill, the well-worn glove was more of an appendage than a possession.

As a seminary student in 1979, I bought a brand new glove at University Mall in Chapel Hill, N.C. and joined a pair of good softball teams.
