Johnny Depp In, Tom Hardy Out For 'Snow White And The Huntsman'?

Johnny DeppAlright, "Snow White and the Huntsman" casting rumors, get your act together. Last week it was first announced that Tom Hardy would most likely turn the titular Huntsman in the action-adventure take on the classic fairy tale, with Angelina Jolie being the dream actress for the evil queen Ravenna. The Jolie casting didn't seem likely, and so it was unsurprising when a few years after it was proclaimed that Charlize Theron was being courted to play the film's villain.

With the numerous projects Hardy has lined up over the following year, there was some uncertainty as to whether or not he'd be capable to get the meter to film "Snow White and the Huntsman," so I guess it was merely a topic of time before somebody else was tossed into the mix for the use of Huntsman. TheWrap says that somebody else is Johnny Depp, who really isn't any less fussy than Hardy is. but is decidedly more of a box office draw.

As bummed as I am that Hardy might not be tangled in this flick, Depp does look more in tune with the Hunter in the Disney version of the faerie tale, and is always fun in mentor roles. TheWrap has some expanded info on the Huntsman's character, and said he serves as Snow White's mentor to learn her to defend against Ravenna, and the two of them are chained together for part of the movie after they run a couple of bounty hunters. They too were clear that the Huntsman won't be Snow White's love interest (she even has her prince), but he is "obsessed by a white wolf that killed his wife, and there's a pervasive sadness about the part that makes the emptiness in his life feel quite real."

This casting still isn't set in stone, and with Depp's busy schedule it seems improbable that he is decidedly in for the film until something is definitively announced. He has four films to promote over the following year ("The Tourist," "Rango," "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and "The Rum Diary") and likewise has been committed to 4 more ("Dark Shadows, " "The Lone Ranger," "The Slender Man," "Sleeping Dogs," and perhaps even more). The potential casting of Depp and Theron looks well for now, but we're expecting some more change-ups as the weeks go on.

Would you wish to see Johnny Depp in the use of the Hunter? Tell us in the comments!
