We've gotten pretty used to 3D movies by now and they've run the gamut from animated classic to other worldly mega-tale. There was Monsters vs. Aliens, Alice in Wonderland, Avatar and now. Jackass?
That's right. Even smaller budget films are getting the welfare of the 3D treatment. But audiences may only be set for a substantial breakthrough in the format: seeing something they truly WANT to watch.
Jackass 3-D hits theaters next week and the universal acclaim is all over the web. for the trailer. That's unusual for a little movie. Usually that form of buzz only hits hotly anticipated films like Twilight and still The Social Network.
But the fascination we make with watching Jackasses like Johnny Knoxville and Wee Man put their body and person on the air for a laugh seems to be the perfect candidate for a technology that's really catching up to the small guy.
Usually these compendium articles include a roundup of heavy to find reviews gathered from the web before the release. Unless the movie sucks. Then the reviewers are either sworn to secrecy or glad to pass it a razz. All that can be ground for Jackass 3D (aside from all the Blogger Moms who haven't seen it but still disdainfully disapprove) is one survey by a lucky previewer in the Hollywood area.So it is presented here in edited form.
CaliKeane on IMDB.com:
"Just saw this at an advance screening in Long Beach and I must say the Jackass crew is back. This film is just what I was expecting it to be. The set piece stunts are in bright and crisp 3D that really adds to the outcome of whatever they are stressful to do. This is Johnny Knoxville, Ryan Dunn, Steve-O, Pontius, and Weeman's show.
These guys are as queer as ever and their genuine friendship is actually quite nostalgic at the end. Its been about 10 years since Jackass went off the air and these guys are really still at the top of their game. The entire house was glaring with laughter the full film. I was invited to stop after for a post film discussion and one of the former people summed it up nicely by saying he felt that not a single skit was a misfire. Of the 25 or so people that stayed after the film, 22 thought it was the better of the trilogy."
Since the overwhelming bulk of positive pressure is around the trailer, have a feel for yourself and see if it's something you would pluck down 12 bucks for.
It looks like there are a lot of jackasses out there. now in 3-D!
